Intermediate Accounting - Wiley

Yes, this is a textbook, the accounting major's bible. Kieso maintains the qualities for which the text is globally recognized, including its reputation for accuracy, comprehensiveness, accessibility, and quality problem material. If it's too advanced for you, try Introduction to Financial Accounting

Thinking, Fast and Slow by Daniel Hahneman

Princeton University psychologist Daniel Hahneman was awarded the Novel Prize in Economics in 2002. "His work has inspired a new generation of researchers in economics and finance to enrich economic theory using insights from cognitive psychology into intrinsic human motivation". By understanding how the mind works, we can improve our judgments and decisions.
Other great behavioral economics/finance books include but are not limited to: Nudge: Improving Decisions About Health, Wealth, and Happiness by Richard H Thaler, Misbehaving: The Making of Behavioral Economics by Richard H Thaler. Dr. Thaler won the Nobel Prize in Economics in 2017.

A Skin in the Game: Hidden Asymmetries in Daily Life

Nassim Nicholas Taleb is the author of the well-known books "The Black Swan", "Antifragile", "Fooled by Randomness". This newly released book is by far his most provocative and practical work that redefines what it means to understand the world, succeed in a profession, contribute to a fair and just society, detect nonsense, and influence others.

A Mathematician Plays the Stock Market

Would a mathematician beat the market by a larger margin? You will surprisingly find out the truth when reading this book. John Allen Paulos demonstrates what the tools of mathematics can tell us about the vagaries of the stock market and intrigues the mindful reader's curiosity about a variety of market and investment theories you've learned either by professional training or through experience. Can a deeper knowledge of mathematics help beat the odds? The same as Burton Malkiel's A Random Walk Down Wall Street, it at least will teach us to stay humble, modest and grateful. The end result, we won't easily fall prey to the endless getting-rich-quickly scams.

Beyond the Grave, the Right Way and the Wrong Way of Leaving Money to Your Children (and Others)

This is the most comprehensive and best book by far targeting ordinary readers who are interested in estate planning. Money can bring the worst in human nature despite good intention. The real-life client situations the estate attorney author encountered will not only provide the technical information and various legal and financial tools to solve the problems, but also eye-openers that we probably have never thought of. Read this book before you draft or revise your will, and before spending money on professional estate planning services.
